Today I was in the super center looking for a bike pump. A few aisles over there were these children screaming and yelling at their mom. IT was really loud and others around me were giving those looks that mothers send to each other the "thank heavens those are not my children" looks. Mine, though not perfect, were behaving like 6 yr olds in the toy section. These other children kept yelling and Sundance said, "those kids don't know how to be nice to their mommy." I am glad that he understands that proper behavior is a way of being nice to mommy. We talk about how it is showing God's love to our family and friends. I looked up and saw that it was a woman I knew who come to me for advise on parenting when her oldest now 4 was just a baby. I guess she didn't take my advise.
(ok,I am not the perfect mother nor have perfect children. I have taken my children out of the store screaming each on a seperate occasion. It only had to happen once for each of them. I abandoned the cart and left the store without what I had come for.It has not happened again.)
We all suffer the consequences of our actions - or inacations. Neglecting to do something correctly in the name of ease only leads to hardship down the road.
I too left cart and all for the sake of discipline!
I also made sure they knew before we left the house what would happen. And they will tell you ~ Mama is a Promisekeeper!
