My sister wrote this poem for a writing project last summer. She is a brilliant writer. I am going to try to write my own but since our lives are "entangled", much of what she writes applies to me too. Beth at the brewcrew adventure has written an essay in this style and from this I was reminded of the idea.
I am from strong men and stronger women
From flappers and demi-beatniks
From the New Deal and the New Society
And the middle class.
I am from teachers and pharmacists for generations running.
I am from Italian cream cakes, chicken Portuguese,
And Indian curries with eight boys.
I am from the Heartland, and the
, and the Southland Island
From the coast and the center.
Like Ulysses, (or Tennyson,)
“I am part of all that I have met.”
Like Iris, I am part of all that I have forgotten.
Like Brian, I am part of all that I have trod.
I am from lady deacons in the Cathedral of the Half-Infidels.
I am from the left and the center, and I’ve visited the right.
I am from the cosmic and the microcosmic
And I am entangled.

Athena, I love that!! We are so, aren't we? I think about you now. I wonder how you are doing, and think about your children. Amazing, this ... this world that God has made!

Hi Athena~
I love this! Thanks for sharing it with us...and now I'll be waiting to read yours.;)
...no pressure...*heh!*
My sister loved the idea too. And she wrote her own, before she read mine (since ours are so entangled as well). I pasted it into the comments section of mine.
Hope you have a great day!
love & blessings~
